I've had BBQ all over the country and when it comes to good, southern, pit/smoked style BBQ, you won't find a better place in Arkansas. It's a hidden gem in the landmark community, about 10 minutes from downtown, but well worth the drive from wherever you are. I recommend getting "the fat boy." It's an open faced sandwich pork or beef, mild or hot, topped with slaw, and onions and of course, their famous sauce.
I'm also a big fan of the "spud and sticks." No matter what you get, you won't be disappointed. The owner, Mike Brewer, was featured on TLC's Pit Masters a couple years ago as well.
The place is owned and operated by the Brewers and you won't find better folks.
I HIGHLY recommend fat boys killer BBQ for anyone within 200 miles!

It's a few miles off of 530 but worth the drive!  The waitress recommended the award winning ribs so we decided to try them.  They were tender, meaty and best with their barbecue sauce.  Our waitress checked on us regularly.  When we asked about the fried pies, she sold us with stories of people ordering large quantities   If you like fried pie, we recommend that you try the coconut cream or the peach!  The pecan had good flavor but had few pecans.
My husband has a fav barbecue place that all others have to measure up to. I almost fainted when he said this was just about as good as his fav.  That's the highest praise he has ever given. Only problem is we don't live in Arkansas- it will be awhile before we can enjoy it again.

A well-run husband and wife operation that serves really tasty home-style Southern food. I went here two days in a row for lunch while on business in the area. I had the smoked chicken salad on day one and catfish platter on day 2. The smoked chicken was cooked very well, smokey, tender and juicy on a bed of huge salad. The 2 catfish platter was huge. The catfish was lightly battered (just the way I like it) and the fish was so fresh, flaky and tasty. The fried that come with it are made fresh and it had some seasonings. My colleague had the smoked chicken sandwich on day 1 and smoked chicken nachos on day 2. He's a regular here and he was the one who suggested this place in the first place. He said their food is always consistent and with large portions (no kidding!). Great service, yummy food (they wouldn't serve you anything that they wouldn't eat themselves) and for the price, this place is a true hidden gem!

Between East End and Little Rock, you will find this BBQ place with motorcycle decorations, BBQ competition trophies, and good BBQ.  Tonight I had the ribs and they had an excellent dry-rub  to them. Fat Boys has 2 BBQ sauces that mixed really well with their ribs and pulled pork.  Both are on the tangy side, brown in color, and the difference between them is one is more peppery than the other.  I ordered mac and cheese and potato salad. The waitress was nice enough to add beans to mine since there was only a scoop of mac and cheese.  The mac and cheese wasn't that good as it seemed to just be dipped in cheese sauce out of a can.  The potato salad was baked potato salad and it was creamy and wonderful.  Beans were thick in substance and satisfactory in taste.  However, there was one big problem with my food at Fat Boys...the ribs were served lukewarm.  Not hot, not cold, and thank goodness it was from a heat lamp because the ribs were not totally dried out...as of yet when I had them.  Fat boys needs a better way to keep their food warm so that when it is served, it isn't just room temperature. Ribs were still pretty good but they would have been spectacular and not as dry if served fresh.  Because of that, they will be getting a 4 because it was good...not needed to be warmed better.

If there was a No star Rating I would have given it that. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I called before I went to see if they had fish and how they sold it. The person on the phone was rude and told me that they sell it in baskets and told me the prices she told me that a four piece fish 'basket' was 13.99. Awesome that is exactly what I wanted. She didn't tell me what was in a basket but I thought its cool. I'll figure it out when I get there. I live about 15 minutes away. This is a place we don't go to very often because it is out of the way. But their food is Usually good. I go in I say I need to place an order to go, I'm not offered a menu but I think to myself hey I called and I know how much the fish is and I can see a sign that says pork $13.99 lb cool that is what i want. Okay this is My bad. I assumed that if a pound is $13.99 that a half a pound is something like $7.00 I didn't ask. MY Fault. So I place my order and go out side to wait, I ask if she wanted me to pay first and she said nah its okay. I wish I could have because I would have canceled my order right then. I came back in after the 12 minutes that she said it would a take to make the food. I ask her how much a 1/2 a pound of the meat was and she told me $9.99 dang I thought it would only be a few more dollars to get the whole pound. I was doing math in my head and the Lady told me that a whole pound was $15.99! I said well the sign says $13.99 and she just looked at me like I had 3 heads. So hungry and ready to go home I was like what ever and went to pay. $37.61 later I'm Pissed. I ask for a to go menu. It says that pork and chicken is only 13.99 a pound! If you are going to change the price of something that is fine whatever prices of things go up. But the first thing that you should do is change your signage. I was told the basket of fish came with fries hush puppies and slaw, which I substituted for .50 for potato salad. I leave. I don't stop anywhere else. I hop on the interstate and go home. It is 8 miles I get out of the car walk in to the house open the bag hand it to boyfriend and he picks it up and says this is soggy and cold. He takes a bite, and says this is disgusting. I paid 15.99 for him to eat some fries, that were also cold, some potatoes salad, a crap ton of onions ew, two lemon slices, 2 hush puppies and 6 packages of really gross tartar sauce. My cat wont even eat this fish, and not to be too gross but the cat eats throw up. I will never be going back to this establishment. The people are rude. The food is over priced and not good. If you are in the area i recommend going to McDonald across the way. They will get your order wrong 100% of the time, you will not get the extra sauce that you paid for and the ice cream machine will be down. And it will still be better than Fat Boys BBQ
